Print this Article | Send to Colleague

The Georgia Forestry Commission is showcasing the many benefits of prescribed fire during Prescribed Fire Awareness Week in Georgia, now through February 5. This important tool helps landowners reach specific objectives such as improvement to wildlife habitat, a reduction in hazardous fuels, insect or disease control, improved access, and enhanced aesthetics. Special tree plantings are scheduled statewide this month as Georgia’s Arbor Day is celebrated on Friday, February 10. Highlights include GFC-sponsored replantings in areas that lost significant tree canopy during recent tornadoes and 2018’s Hurricane Michael. Visit gatrees.org for full details.
