Print Print this article

On Friday, August 9, noon-1:00 p.m., the Georgia Archives’ Lunch and Learn program will be presented by Tellus Science Museum curator, Ryan O. Roney. Roney will speak about the Georgia Stone: Building a Nation temporary exhibit at the Tellus. He will share how research and on-site field trips in preparation for this exhibition revealed a deeper story of the people behind the mining and uses of architectural stone from Georgia.

Roney is a Ph.D. candidate in Geology at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he previously earned a Master’s in Geology. He has Bachelor’s degrees in Geology and Spanish from Georgia Southwestern State University and the University of West Georgia.

Our presenter is a life-long collector. “I love taking care of the objects at Tellus,” said Roney, “I was a collector of everything in my childhood…. coins, stamps, rocks, fossils, insects, comic books, leaves, you name it.”

The Georgia Archives is located at 5800 Jonesboro Road, Morrow, Georgia.

Lunch and Learn Programs are free and open to the public and are sponsored by Friends of Georgia Archives and History (FOGAH). Door prizes are drawn at each Lunch and Learn program. No registration is required.

The Georgia Archives is a unit of the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. The Georgia Archives identifies, collects, manages, preserves, provides access to, and publicizes records and information of Georgia and its people, and assists state and local government agencies with their records management.
