At Food Lion, we care about our neighbors and understand the value of caring for the towns and cities we serve, especially during times of need. The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge is a tragedy for our Baltimore, MD, community. As the news continues to unfold, we extend our deepest sympathies and support to all those impacted by the incident. Food Lion Feeds is collaborating with The Salvation Army of Central Maryland to support rescue workers and first responders by providing water and coffee. In addition, our stores in the Baltimore Region are working in partnership with Mt. Olive Baptist Church, which serves as a base of operations for recovery efforts. Our Food Lion stores are delivering an assortment of nonperishable snacks, bananas and additional hydration. We care about our communities because we know our neighbors count on us every day. We will continue to be a source of support for our Maryland neighbors and stand with them during this difficult time.

Our fifth annual Score to Give More program through our hunger-relief platform, Food Lion Feeds, was a slam dunk! Throughout the 2023-24 college basketball season, Food Lion Feeds partnered with 52 collegiate basketball programs, including 15 women’s teams, providing more than 1.6 million meals to nourish neighbors experiencing hunger. Through this collaboration to address food insecurity, Food Lion Feeds helped provide 100 meals* (up to 30,000 meals per team) for every free throw made. The effort benefits campus food pantries and affiliated Feeding America partner food banks, where each school is located throughout Food Lion’s 10-state operating area. Since 2019, Food Lion Feeds has provided more than 4.9 million meals* through the combination of regular season and tournament free throws to address food insecurity in the towns and cities we serve.
