Taking aim at the bottleneck that has slowed cargo movement through the Port of Long Beach, its Board of Harbor Commissioners on Dec. 22 approved measures to relieve congestion, including a petition of the Federal Maritime Commission for permission to work in concert with the neighboring Port of Los Angeles.  The last oceangoing vessel to call the Port of Duluth/Superior this year departed just after midnight Friday, Dec. 19 – passing beneath the Aerial Lift Bridge at 12:26 a.m. Saturday. The Palmerton had arrived earlier in the week to discharge project cargo at the Clure Public Marine Terminal in Duluth.

 Port Freeport expects to move into a new administration building by early 2016. The three-story, 20,000 square-foot tilt-wall panel building will complement the recently completed emergency operations center located near the main entry gate.
