Port of Long Beach
Newly announced results show the Alabama State Port Authority earned record revenues of $162.3 million and handled a record 29.1 million tons of cargo through its terminals in the Port of Mobile during the fiscal year ending September 30, 2014. A record 46,827 containers moved through the Baltimore’s public marine terminals in October, beating the previous monthly record of 44,095 containers set in July 2013, according to data reported by the Maryland Port Administration (MPA). The Port of Milwaukee unloaded 179,000 metric tons of steel in 2014, the most in any year since 1970. November was yet another month of double-digit growth for Port Saint John’s booming container trade, with a 44.6 percent jump that the boosted year-to-date total to 83,955 TEUs and an increase from January-November 2013 of 20.9 percent. The Port of Virginia reports container volume reached 208,764 TEUs in November. That was up 8.2 percent from a year ago and gave the port its fifth consecutive month with a container count exceeding 200,000 TEUs.

An intergovernmental agreement (IGA) between the Port of Lake Charles and the Louisiana Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority to restore local wetlands and battered marshes by using dredged materials from the Calcasieu Ship Channel has been designated a Beneficial Environmental Project by the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. Phase 1 maintenance dredging of the Redwood City Harbor and Channel was completed last week, giving the Port of Redwood City a channel depth of 28 feet. Phase 2, which will restore the channel to it authorized depth of 30 feet, is scheduled for mid-2015.

The Port of Everett moved its planned Waterfront Place Central mixed-use development a step forward last week by naming Brandon Whitaker project manager. Two Port of Los Angeles waterfront renewal projects have received "2014 Project of the Year" awards from the Southern California Chapter of the American Public Works Association. They include the Berth 100 Wharf South Extension and Backland Development initiative, and the LA Waterfront Downtown Harbor Landside and Rail Improvement project.

The Port of Québec welcomed 180,836 passengers during the cruise season that began last May 10 and ended on November 12, up from 162,000 passengers in 2013. Port Tampa Bay on December 16 hosted the first of six port calls the cruise ship AIDAvita will make during the 2014-2015 season.

The Secretaria Técnica Nacional Ambiental(SETENA), the official environmental agency of the government of Costa Rica, has granted approval to the APM Terminals Moin Container Terminal project. The project is being developed under the auspices of the Junta de Administración Portuaria y de Desarrollo Económico de la Vertiente Atlántica (JAPDEVA).
