Central and South American container port traffic grew in 2013, but barely so, inching upward 1.4 percent to a near-record 31.7 million TEUs. The Port of Longview handled a record 7.4 million metric tons in 2013, up 18 percent from 6.3 million tons in 2012. Port Manatee’s booming international trade will get a big boost next year when Air Products begins exporting liquefied natural gas heat exchangers.

Port Tampa Bay’s board of directors has board approved a proposal of the firm of CBP, LLC, to put together a thorough plan to redevelop and revive the Channelside Bay Plaza entertainment facility. The Virgin Islands Port Authority is beginning the process to construct a new U.S. Customs and Border Protection facility and parking garage at the island’s most busy ferry and cargo port.

The board of directors of the Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) on June 30 elected officers for FY 2014-2015. Port Angeles has named Jennifer States its director of business development. Jim Pyburn has been selected to direct Port Everglades’ Business Development Division.
