Franklin Camp has joined the Jacksonville Port Authority’s sales and marketing team as director, non-containerized sales. Kristen Leonard will be coming to the Port of Portland (OR) this July as public affairs director. Paul Robichaux has been elected president of the board of commissioners of the Port of South Louisiana for 2014-2015.

Now is the time to make plans for AAPA's Port Security Seminar and Exhibition, July 16-18, at the Sheraton Inner Harbor Hotel in the vibrant, historic port city of Baltimore. An outstanding program has been developed by the AAPA Security Committee and its chairman, Joe Lawless of the Massachusetts Port Authority, for what will be the association's 14th security seminar since May 2001. Last year's seminar drew a large and enthusiastic audience; this year's promises to be equally engaging.

The Port of Longview reports its second mobile harbor crane is "fully commissioned, certified and ready to go." The Port of Los Angeles and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers have released a Draft Environmental Impact Statement/Report (EIS/EIR) for the Yusen Terminals Inc. Container Terminal Improvements Project. The 1,200-foot MSC Judith tied the record for the longest container ship to berth in New Orleans when she docked May 3 at Napoleon Avenue Container Terminal.

New rail locomotive technology developed with the support of the Port of Los Angeles to meet strict clean air standards has been approved by the California Air Resources Board. Funding to outfit with Global Positioning System technology the remainder of the container truck fleet approved to serve Port Metro Vancouver’s marine terminals is coming from the port authority and the provincial and federal governments.
