Vac-Con, Inc. a Green Cove Springs (FL)-based manufacturer of truck mounted vacuum equipment and hydro excavating machines, this month delivered 18 new jumbo-sized specialty trucks to the Port of Jacksonville for export to Peru. The Tampa Port Authority this week announced that the port’s board of commissioners has approved a terminal use agreement with its new strategic partner AMPORTS – one of North America’s largest auto processors – to process new automobiles, trucks and other vehicles for delivery by truck and rail to Southeast markets within and outside of Florida.

Containerized cargo continued its upward trend at the Port of Long Beach in November, with volume rising 2.5 percent from a year ago to 569,599 TEUs, thanks to solid gains for both imports (+6.5 percent) and exports (+9.9 percent). The St. Lawrence Seaway reported that year-to-date total cargo shipments for the period March 22 to November 30 were 33 million metric tons, down 6 percent over the same period in 2012. The Virginia Port Authority (VPA) reports container volumes its Hampton Roads marine terminals reached 192,918 TEUs in November, bringing the year-to-date total to 2,042,442 TEUs – a 6.4 percent increase compared to the corresponding 11-month period of 2012.

For the fifth year in a row, AAPA and its staff "adopted" a local family through the Alexandria (Virginia) Department of Community and Human Services’ (ADCHS) Holiday Sharing Program. This year, all 17 AAPA staff members participated in the program, either by shopping, donating funds for gift purchases, wrapping presents, or transporting the gifts to the ACDHS offices. As in previous years, AAPA made a financial donation to this effort in lieu of sending holiday cards.
