The Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) and long-time tenant Trailer Bridge, Inc. have extended their ties by signing a new 10-year lease contract to continue the company's operations on approximately 32 acres at JAXPORT's Blount Island Marine Terminal. Representatives of the Port of Long Beach and the Busan Port Authority met in South Korea on November 4 for the signing of a "sister port" agreement to establish a mutually beneficial exchange of technology, ideas and culture. The Port of Wilmington recently signed a five-year agreement with Fresh Fruit Maroc, an association of Moroccan citrus growers and exporters, to ensure that the Delaware port will remain a distribution hub for the association's clementines through 2017.

Port Canaveral Commissioners have approved building an $80-$85 million cruise terminal and 1,000-vehicle parking facility that is scheduled to open in November 2014. Princess Cruises launched its new service from the Port of Houston Authority's Bayport Cruise Terminal on November 5 with a four-day benefit cruise to Progreso, Mexico. PortMiami kicked off its new cruise season October 25 with a ceremony aboard the 2,700-passenger Disney Magic.

The Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners on November 7 approved a new incentive program to reward shipping lines that bring new container business to the Port of Los Angeles in 2014. The Québec Port Authority (QPA) has given the green light to the wood pellet terminal project after analysis of the final environmental study submitted by Quebec Stevedoring Company Limited (QSL), the project promoter.

Two ships, Sevenstar Yacht Transport's Spielgracht and Dijksgracht, teamed up recently at Port Everglades, so that the cranes aboard both ships could be used to lift a brand new, 140-ton Ferretti yacht model Navetta 26 and lower it into the water. CSL Tacoma, the latest and last in the so called "Trillium" class of self-unloading Panamax size bulk carriers ordered for Canada Steamship Lines, arrived at the Port of Redwood City November 7 carrying sand and gravel construction materials from a quarry in Canada.
