He received the PPM® certificate at AAPA's Congress of Latin American Ports this June in Bogotá.

The Jacksonville Port Authority's 2012 Annual Report has won top honors from three communications and visual arts group competitions: the International Academy of the Visual Arts, Graphic Design USA and the League of American Communications Professionals. The Port of Long Beach has cut diesel particulates by 81 percent since 2005, according to an analysis released on August 19. In New York and New Jersey, the Port Authority Police Department earlier this month welcomed the second largest class of recruits in its 85-year history.

The Port of Houston Authority generated operating revenue totaling $21 million in July, surpassing July 2012's performance by $1.4 million, or 7 percent. At mid-year, Port Saint John's containerized cargo had doubled in volume from a year ago to 258,000 metric tons.

The Joint Ocean Commission Initiative (JOCI) is hosting a free webinar on September 12, from 2 p.m.-3 p.m. (Eastern) that will focus on emerging ocean issues for ports. JOCI, a bipartisan collaboration of senior leaders representing diverse ocean interests, will discuss its recent recommendations made to the Obama administration and Congress to promote healthy oceans and coasts and support ocean-related industries.

The Tampa Port Authority has signed a letter of intent with Green Express (GX) for the development of an on-dock transload and rail-served facility connecting the Port of Tampa to the Midwest market region. In Norfolk, the Virginia Port Authority's reorganization took a step forward earlier this month with the conversion of its terminal operating company, Virginia International Terminals, to a Virginia limited liability company.

A newly released study commissioned by the Big River Coalition and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADTP) concludes that deepening the Mississippi River to 50 feet would spur $11.49 billion in increased U.S. production, create 16,991 permanent jobs and account for $849.5 million in increased income for American workers.

The Prince Rupert Port Authority announced the latest beneficiary of its Community Investment Fund: the Harbour Theatre Society, which is in the process of upgrading its theatrical lighting. In Washington State, the Port of Vancouver this July was awarded two grants from the Federal Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP), which will allow the port to accelerate plans to provide safe bike and pedestrian access along port property.
