 In Georgia, the Port of Brunswick is experiencing an export boom thanks to a bumper crop of wheat. The Port of Houston Authority and Princess Cruises signed an agreement to extend the cruise line's use of the Bayport terminal through the 2015-2016 cruise season. Based on metric tons of cargo during the first six month of 2013, the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority is on track to its fourth consecutive calendar year of double digit growth. Hyundai Motor Company recently imported its two millionth automobile through the Port of Portland.

The Port of Hueneme's board of harbor commissioners approved a contract to install shore power at three berths in a way that will allow for faster turnaround of the grant funds the port was awarded under a voter-approved proposition. The Prince Rupert Port Authority announced a new program that offers discounted harbor dues to commercial vessels that implement emission reduction measures or other environmental practices. For the upcoming fiscal year, the U.S. Virgin Islands Port Authority will be able to collect all revenues derived from a marine terminal tax formerly collected by the territorial government.

 The Port of Los Angeles announced a pilot community investment program that will support a variety of local organizations that positively impact the Los Angeles harbor. The Port of New Orleans last week launched its newly redesigned website, along with a social media platform intended to inform the community, customers and stakeholders of current happenings. On July 17, the San Francisco Port Commission celebrated the opening of Brannan Street Wharf, a newly constructed two-acre public park on the Embarcadero.

The U.S. Section of PIANC will host the 33rd PIANC World Congress June 1-5, 2014, in San Francisco. The congress, held every four years, is open to members and non-members. The congress rotates among PIANC's member countries in order to present and discuss topics relevant to the waterborne transport infrastructure sector.
