The Washington State Auditor’s Office has given the Port of Everett a clean audit for the 18th consecutive year. The Port of Oakland’s $470 million Fiscal Year 2016 budget took effect July 1 and includes $167 million for capital improvements.

Maersk Line container services to the Far East, the Mediterranean and Northern Europe have begun calling weekly at the Maryland Port Administration’s Seagirt Marine Terminal, bringing an estimated 31,000 containers through the Port of Baltimore annually.

New York City’s ongoing effort to reestablish Southwest Brooklyn as a shipping hub took a major stride forward last month when the U.S. Maritime Administration officially designated the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal (SBMT) and nearby Red Hook Container Terminal part of America’s Marine Highway System. The Port of Los Angeles will begin construction this summer on a two-year project to improve the marine container terminal operated by Yusen Terminals LLC.

James A. Walters has been re-elected chairman of the Georgia Ports Authority. The city of Nanaimo has appointed Michelle Corfield to the board of directors Nanaimo Port Authority for a three year term that began July 1, 2015. Jim Starace will succeed Peter Zipf as chief engineer of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, effective August 3, 2015. David Freiboth will be joining the Port of Seattle as senior director of labor relations.
