The Port of Everett has signed a five-year lease with OceanGate, Inc., to occupy 3,600 square feet within the port-owned Waterfront Center. The company will use the property to develop, assemble and operate a fleet of next generation manned submersibles.

The Port of Halifax is expecting 146 vessels and 240,000 passengers during the 2015 cruise season, which begins April 19 and continues through October. Viking River Cruises has selected New Orleans as homeport for its first North American river cruise itineraries.

Port of Long Beach
It takes only 120 seconds to learn a lot about the Port of Oakland. The port unveiled a new time-lapse video tour today of its three businesses: Oakland seaport, Oakland International Airport, and more than 20 miles of shoreline commercial real estate that includes the Jack London Square entertainment district.

The Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) announced February 26 that it had granted the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles approval of an agreement that allows the two ports to discuss and agree on projects and programs that address congestion issues, transportation infrastructure needs and pollution caused by port-related activities.

The Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners last appointed port industry veterans Michael Christensen and Glenn Farren to management positions newly created with the goal of enhancing cargo flow and service at the Port of Long Beach.  Dave Caplan will be joining the Port of Seattle’s executive team on April 6 as director of the new Office of Strategic Initiatives.

Crowley Liner Services will relocate its Puerto Rican service from its private terminal along Jacksonville harbor to JAXPORT's Talleyrand Marine Terminal and expand its current leasehold in under an agreement approved by the port authority board on February 23. Ocean Ro/Ro carrier SC Line reinforced its USA service from Port Everglades to Mexico, Panama, Colombia and the Caribbean with the February 14 arrival of its new M/V Caroline Russ at the South Florida seaport.  FCA US, formerly Chrysler Group, has awarded a multi-year vehicle processing contract to New Castle (DE) -based AutoPort, Inc. Vehicles manufactured at FCA in the U.S. Midwest and Ontario will be transported to Delaware by rail and prepared for export to the Middle East via the Port of Wilmington.

The board of commissioners of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey formally received and voted unanimously in support of the core structural and strategic recommendations of the bi-state Special Panel on the Future of the Port Authority. The  panel recommended a comprehensive overhaul of the governance of the agency and a re-commitment to the agency’s core transportation mission.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is inviting shipping lines to participate in a new Intermodal Cargo Growth Incentive Program, which aims to increase cargo activity at the Port of Philadelphia.

Two gigantic shiploaders destined for Sept-Îles' multi-user dock arrived at the port this month after a 43-day voyage from China via the Panama Canal aboard the  heavylift ship M/V Happy Star.  A permit to dredge the East Gregerie Channel in Crown Bay, St. Thomas, has been approved by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This means that the Virgin Islands Port Authority can now begin dredging the channel and the northern side of the Austin Monsanto Marine Terminal cruise ship pier to provide safer berthing conditions for large cruise vessels.
