The Finance Committee under the direction of Chairman Jeff Strader, CPA, CFO Port Freeport, produced a program that was informative, challenging and engaging.  The Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans on April 15 unveiled a new modern, streamlined logo. The rebranding effort represents the culmination of work of an internal committee consisting of staff from a variety of port departments and two members representing the board of commissioners. A public relations firm retained by the port designed the new brand.

 The Port of Grays Harbor is contemplating of adding two waterfront public access facilities, Friends Landing and Sterling Landing in eastern Grays Harbor County, to its real estate portfolio. Port Everglades is celebrating Arbor Day 2014 with a tree planting ceremony to mark the start of an extensive mangrove enhancement project as part of a larger construction project to add new cargo berths. Port Manatee anticipates dramatic reductions in emissions and operating costs from two "green" locomotives on the short-line railroad that links the seaport to the CSX Transportation mainline. Port Tampa Bay’s two dredge disposal islands in Hillsborough Bay, together with the Richard T. Paul Alafia Bank Bird Sanctuary have been recognized collectively by BirdLife International and the National Audubon Society for their global significance as bird nesting areas.

 The Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor on April 17 welcomed its first ocean-going vessels of the 2014 Great Lakes Seaway Navigation Season. Carnival Dream, the largest cruise ship to operate year-round from the Port of New Orleans, set sail April 16 on its inaugural cruise from the port’s newly refurbished Erato Street Cruise Terminal. The Port of San Diego demonstrated its prowess as a project cargo handler with the transshipment earlier this month of a massive generator and associated equipment bound for the Agua Prieta power plant in Sonora, Mexico.
