Zelko N. Kirincich is the new executive director of the Port of Oswego Authority. Retired Navy Rear Admiral Garry Bonelli was sworn in January 3 as a San Diego Port Commissioner. Stephanie Bowman and Courtney Gregoire have been elected Seattle Port Commission co-presidents for 2014; Tay Yoshitani will be stepping down as Seattle Port CEO at the end of June.

The Port of New Bedford Harbor Development Commission recently a comprehensive look into the development of a business case for marine highway services on the U.S. East Coast. A privately contracted commuter passenger ferry service has begun operating on a trial basis between the ports of Redwood City and San Francisco started service.

Port Freeport has received a GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its 2012 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The Port of Hueneme recently secured financing for shore side power infrastructure and other needed port improvements through the federal New Markets Tax Credits Program (NMTC). Florida state funding amounting to $7,876,000 have been awarded the Port of Palm Beach in recent weeks for various capital improvements.

Port Canaveral recently broke ground on a $50.5 million, 187,500-square-foot Cruise Terminal 1. PortMiami has substantially expanded its fumigation capacity over the past year and can now process up to 6,000 pallets of fruit and vegetables per day.
