International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) and PSA International Pte. Ltd. (PSA) will jointly develop, construct and operate a container port terminal and ancillary facilities located on the Aguadulce Peninsula near Buenaventura, Colombia. Gov. Rick Scott and the Florida Cabinet on September 24 approved the use of $150 million in bond proceeds to finance projects at Florida ports through the Seaport Investment Program. Pasha Automotive Services and the Port of Grays Harbor have completed new infrastructure aimed at promoting the continued growth of automotive processing and roll-on/roll-off business. Pursuant to an agreement with the North Carolina State Ports Authority, WoodFuels would finance and build a $25 million export facility at the Port of Morehead City, which would receive, store and load wood pellets for export to Europe as a renewable energy source.

Winning entries were selected in three AAPA awards programs: Facilities Engineering, Information Technology and Environmental Improvement. This year’s Facilities Engineering winner is the Port of New Orleans’s entry, "The Riverfront Cold Storage Facility." The winner of this year’s AAPA IT Award is Port Fourchon, whose entry "Maritime Domain Awareness System" was submitted in the Port Operations and Management Systems category. The Environmental Improvement winner is the Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority for "Flotsam & Jetsam: Leading Environmental Restoration in Cleveland Harbor" entry in the Environmental Enhancement category.

The Port of Houston Authority reported that August was another "$20 million+ month," with year-to-date operating revenue increasing 4 percent. The Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners on August 19 voted in favor of port staff’s recommendation to eliminate a never-used container fee created nearly six years ago to help finance major rail, highway and bridge improvement projects.

Attorneys Stephen H. DonCarlos and Roy Mease are the newest members of the Houston Port Commission. The Board of Commissioners of the Port of New Orleans elected Daniel F. Packer chairman at its regularly scheduled meeting on September 26. The transport ministers of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba have named Carmen Loberg as the Prairie Provinces representative on the board of directors of Port Metro Vancouver - the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority - effective September 16.
