The Port of Corpus Christi ended 2019 with record tonnages for December of 13.8 million cargo tons and 122.2 million cargo tons for the entire year — a 16-million-ton improvement over 2018 tonnages. The Prince Rupert Port Authority (PRPA) announced another record year in volume. A grand total of 29.9 million tons of cargo moved through the Port of Prince Rupert in 2019 – 12% more than the 26.7 million tons handled the previous year and the highest total volume to date for the Port.
 
 
   
The Port of Vancouver USA has established a new community fund program to support projects and programs that align with the port’s mission of trade promotion, tourism generation, economic development and workforce development. The port has budgeted $5,000 for the inaugural year of the program. Through a competitive application process, the port will award funds to one or more projects that meet program goals and are located within port district boundaries.
 
 
   
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded the Port of Baltimore $1.8 million in Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) funds to replace older diesel-powered equipment with newer, cleaner versions. The grant will cover about 44 dray trucks, commonly used for transporting shipping containers to and from the Port, and four pieces of cargo-handling equipment such as forklifts, yard tractors and other heavy cargo machinery.
