Port Everglades released a report for fiscal year 2018 highlighting how the elevated containerized cargo and passenger volumes at the port strengthened economic activity and created new jobs in Florida. The Port of Halifax is a significant contributor to the economy of Halifax and Nova Scotia. The most recent economic impact report, produced by Chris Lowe Planning and Management Group, found the Port of Halifax’s economic output from operations in 2017/18 was $1.97 billion, up 15% from 2015/16 values.

The Port of Los Angeles handled 736,466 TEUs in April, the busiest April in the port’s 112-year history. The Port of Oakland reported that its containerized import volume jumped 7 percent last month compared to April 2018. It was the busiest April in the port’s 92-year history. The Port of Virginia® processed 245,933 TEUs in April, marking it the busiest April in the port’s history.

The Port of San Diego has successfully completed an engineering lighting study to test and evaluate the potential use of color-changing LED lights to illuminate the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge.
 
The Port of Savannah welcomed its first Seaboard Marine vessel. The new shipping line customer supports Savannah’s cold chain logistics system with one new service to Central America, and a second to Latin America and the Caribbean.
 
The Port of Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners approved the selection of Wei Chi to lead the Finance Division at the nation’s second-busiest seaport. The Port of Seattle announced that Bookda Gheisar will serve as the port’s first senior director for equity, diversity and inclusion and lead the port’s first ever Equity Department.
