Port of Corpus Christi staff and Port Commission members joined area elected officials at the Solomon P. Ortiz International Center to break ground on the new Port Administration Building. The Port of San Diego and San Diego Ocean Planning Partnership have released an interactive, user-friendly Web Mapping Application that is designed to help users better understand the dynamic ocean space and ocean-related data offshore San Diego County. The Port Tampa Bay Big Bend Channel Expansion has been completed a year ahead of schedule. The $63 million milestone project, which deepened and widened the Big Bend Channel, will allow for larger ships to call at the terminals.

A record 43 million tons of international cargo was handled last year by the Port of Baltimore, breaking the previous high mark of 40.9 million tons that stood for 44 years. The Port of Los Angeles handled 650,977 TEUs in March, an increase of 12.7 percent compared to 2018. The Port of Oakland will add new direct service to Vietnam by late April. American exports to Vietnam from Oakland have grown by 126 percent since 2015. The Port of Savannah handled more than 410,000 twenty-foot equivalent container units last month, an increase of 15.5 percent. Rail volumes spiked by 26 percent for a total of 82,135 TEUs.

The Port of Virginia’s 2018 Sustainability Report highlights the many successes and accomplishments of the colleagues and port partners as seen through the lenses of the port’s diverse sustainability activities. Sustainability is one of the port’s six core values.
 
The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey announced that Sam Ruda, the Port Department's interim director for the past five months, has been named its new director. In addition to the appointment of a new director, the Port Authority also announced that Bethann Rooney, a 28-year veteran of the maritime industry, has been named the Port Department's deputy director. The Orange County Navigation and Port District commissioners found their new Port Director in their own boardroom. Lorrie Taylor, the port’s Director of Administration and Finance since 2014, is the unanimous choice to succeed Gene Bouillion as Port Director and Chief Executive Officer.
