Oregon International Port of Coos Bay has promoted environmental stewardship through the removal and disposal of derelict vessels. For the past two years, the port set aside $25,000 to dispose of around 5 to 6 derelict vessels annually. However, due to increasing numbers of derelict vessels, the port has budgeted $40,000 for the 2018/19 fiscal year with plans to dispose of about 10 vessels. The Port of Oakland has reported that 75% of all ships visiting in 2018 used landside electricity shore power. This was up from 68% the year before.

The Hamilton Port Authority handled the highest volume of cargo through the port in more than a decade in 2018. More than 11.6 million metric tonnes of cargo was imported or exported through the Port of Hamilton during the 2018 shipping season, an 18 per cent increase over 2017’s total. The Port of Los Angeles moved more cargo in 2018 than any time in its 111-year history, racking up 9,458,749 TEUs, 1.2% more than 2017’s record-breaking year. The Port of Trois-Rivières handled 3.8 million MMT of cargo. This represents an increase of 47% compared to 2017 and a new record that eclipses the 3.7 MMT of traffic realized in 2014

A new mobile harbor crane for Port Canaveral arrived at the Pport’s North Cargo Berth 5. The 270-foot tall Liebherr LHM 600 – the largest mobile harbor crane in the United States – will be operational in the second quarter of 2019.

For the 10th consecutive year, the state-owned, public marine terminals at the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore received a top rating on an annual security assessment from the U.S. Coast Guard for 2018.
