The Oregon International Port of Coos Bay announced the award of a $20 million BUILD grant to support rehabilitation of 15 bridge structures along the Coos Bay Rail Line. The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Port Administration will receive $6.6 million in U.S. Department of Transportation grant funding to contribute to a project that will deepen a second container berth to 50 feet at the Helen Delich Bentley Port of Baltimore’s Seagirt Marine Terminal. The Port of Redwood City announced the allocation of $7.95M from the United States Army Corps of Engineers Fiscal Year 2019 Work Plan.

The Georgia Ports Authority is on track to reach 4.36 million TEUs handled in 2018, its highest volume ever in a calendar year. The Northwest Seaport Alliance’s SSA Marine Terminal 18 surpassed 1 million TEUs in yearly container volume, marking the first time in Washington state history that a single marine terminal handled a million TEUs in a year. The Port of Virginia is closely managing the movement of empty containers to optimize its existing container capacity and drive the efficient movement of cargo during construction at its two main container terminals.

The Port of Brownsville presented West Plains LLC with its 2018 Chairman’s Award in recognition of the company’s investments and rehabilitation efforts of the port’s iconic grain elevator. Port Saint John welcomed a trade mission from five Brazilian companies. The Canaveral Port Authority Board of Commissioners voted to approve a resolution for the issuance of a series of bonds up to $117 million to provide the financing for Port Canaveral’s Cruise Terminal 3 project. The Port of Galveston entered into a MOU with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. setting out the general terms for a new long-term business agreement for the development and operation of a new cruise terminal. The long-term lease negotiations could lead to a 60-year transaction: a 20-year initial term and four 10-year options.
