Port Milwaukee’s maritime cargo and vessel activity had a significant positive effect on the city and the region’s economy in 2017, a recently completed study has concluded. The study, commissioned by the marine shipping industry in partnership with U.S. and Canadian government agencies, concluded that Port Milwaukee sustained more than 1,300 local jobs and generated over $100 million in business revenue last year. The Trois-Rivières Port Authority has hired the firm Cible Recherche to conduct a survey among the population of Trois-Rivières.
 
The Port of Los Angeles processed 833,568 TEUs last month, the busiest July in the Port’s 111-year history. The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority today released the 2018 mid-year statistics for goods moving through the Port of Vancouver. Overall cargo through the port increased 4.4% to 72.1 million metric tons over the same time last year to reach record mid-year volumes. The Port of Virginia processed a record-setting 252,679 TEUs in July, an increase of nearly 8% when compared with the same month last year, and the second most productive month in the port’s history.
