The South Jersey Port Corporation’s new Paulsboro Marine Terminal officially commenced operation March 1 with the docking of the bulk carrier Doric Warrior carrying steel slabs destined for processing plants in Indiana and Western Pennsylvania and Indiana.
 
 
   
As many as six 366-foot-tall cranes will soon be raised 27-feet higher at the Port of Oakland, making it easier to work megaships with containers stacked high above deck. ICTSI Oregon, Inc., and the Port of Portland have mutually agreed to terminate a 25-year lease agreement to operate the container facility at the port’s Terminal 6.
 
The Port of Long Beach is poised to receive a major grant to fund one of the nation’s largest demonstration projects for zero-emissions cargo-handling equipment.
 
Fitch Ratings has affirmed the 'A+' rating on the Hawaii Department of Transportation's (HI) $309 million in outstanding harbor system revenue bonds. It also revised the rating outlook to "positive" from "stable."

The Port of Milwaukee received 274 vessel visits and processed more than 2.4 million metric tons of cargo during its busy 2016 shipping season. Among the positives were increases in grain, raw materials, and cargo shipped via the St. Lawrence Seaway (especially grain and agricultural products). Newly released year-end statistics show nearly 136 million metric tons of cargo moved through the Port of Vancouver during 2016. That was down 1.8 percent from 2015 despite record bulk grain shipments.
 
 
   
The Caddo-Bossier Parishes Port Commission recently re-elected officers for 2017. They include: Sam Gregorio, president, Rick Prescott, vice president, and Roy Griggs, secretary-treasurer. Dan Stahl is the new chief operating officer at the Port of Longview. Robert C. Blackburn, formerly of the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority, took over December 13 as director of Rhode Island’s Port of Davisville.
