The Port of Brownsville announced that M&M Mooring received the 2025 Chairman’s Award during the annual Customer Appreciation Luncheon on December 4. The Brownsville Navigation District highlighted the company’s nearly 30-year partnership with the port, providing line-handling and steamship agency services under the leadership of owner Mark Clive. M&M Mooring has grown from a one-person operation into a multi-generational business supporting safe and efficient vessel movements. The company manages vessel documentation, customs coordination, and port fees for foreign-flagged ships and has expanded its capabilities over the years in response to shifts in cargo and vessel activity. Since 2017, the Chairman’s Award has recognized port tenants for achievements in growth, leadership, job creation, customer service, innovation, safety, and community engagement.

South Jersey Ports has expanded its covered capacity by refurbishing and repurposing two existing warehouse buildings, adding 60,000 square feet designed for breakbulk steel handling, staging, and short-term storage. The additional space supports rising steel tonnage at the Camden terminals, which has grown alongside ongoing infrastructure investments, strong rail performance, and equipment and facility upgrades. The refurbished warehouses are tailored for steel commodities such as coils and plates that require covered storage, appropriate ground bearing capacity, and dedicated handling lanes. This expansion enables the port to accept more steel cargo without disrupting other terminal operations and helps improve vessel productivity and customer scheduling. South Jersey Ports noted that steel imports have become a more consistent, year-round commodity as supply chain needs and importer preferences continue to evolve.

Port Everglades reported new all-time highs in cruise, cargo, and energy volumes based on preliminary Fiscal Year 2025 figures. The port handled a record 1,167,552 TEUs, reflecting strong trade activity and demand across Latin America, the Caribbean, and other regions. In the energy sector, the port moved 131,855,261 barrels of petroleum products, maintaining its position as Florida’s top petroleum port, supplying 12 counties and five international airports. Cruise operations also reached historic levels, with 4,773,873 passengers — a 16% increase year-over-year — solidifying Port Everglades as the world’s third-busiest cruise homeport. Port leadership noted that the results demonstrate the port’s diversified strength as it advances more than $3 billion in planned long-term capital improvements.

The Port Authority of Guam has launched the Joint Region Marianas Pier Restoration Project at F1 Pier, the island’s only operational fuel offloading terminal. The project is funded in part by a $4.8 million federal grant from the Defense Community Infrastructure Program, covering most of the $6.9 million total cost. The upgrades will address urgent structural and safety needs to stabilize the pier, extend its operational life, and maintain functionality following the loss of Golf Pier during Typhoon Mawar. F1 Pier is the primary offloading point for fuels that support military bases, the Guam Power Authority, the Guam International Airport, and commercial distributors. The improvements aim to eliminate immediate safety hazards, strengthen operational readiness, and ensure reliable fuel deliveries for the next five to ten years.

Indiana River & Rail Terminals (IRRT) has expanded its capacity for handling barge and general cargo shipments at Ports of Indiana-Jeffersonville by 40 percent, increasing total storage space to 350,000 square feet through the lease of a fourth building. IRRT, a joint venture between Ports of Indiana and Superior River Terminals Indiana, is the largest general cargo operator on the Ohio River, managing seven buildings and serving 2,200 acres across Jeffersonville and Mount Vernon. The expansion follows sustained double-digit growth since 2022 and addresses near-capacity steel shipments by adding a 156,000-square-foot facility to supplement existing warehouse space. The additional capacity will support Foreign-Trade Zone storage, heavy lift cargo, rail transload, and increased barge, rail, and truck operations. Ports of Indiana leaders noted that the expanded facilities enhance multimodal logistics capabilities and position Jeffersonville to serve a broader range of industries and cargo needs.
