Montreal: John Parisella named to Port Authority Board
The Canadian federal government has appointed John Parisella to a three-year term as its representative on the board of directors of the Montréal Port Authority (MPA). He replaces Germain Thibault, whose term had expired.
John Parisella joined the Montréal office of the public relations firm NATIONAL as Senior Advisor, Business Outreach, in January 2017. Earlier, he held numerous positions in the public sphere, including chief of staff for Québec premiers, author, business manager, political analyst and Québec’s delegate general in New York City.
More recently, he was executive director of the major fundraising campaign for HEC Montréal, Polytechnique Montréal and Université de Montréal (Campus Montréal). At NATIONAL, he will work towards raising the firm’s profile throughout the network as well as supporting a mentorship strategy aimed at younger consultants.
Mr. Parisella became a member of the Order of Canada in 2017 and an Officer of the National Order of Quebec in 2016. He was named Personality of the TOP 20 Diversity Award at the Grand Prix Mosaïque – Lys de la Diversité du Québec in 2014.
The port authority board consists of seven directors – one each representing the federal, municipal and provincial governments and four representing port users. Directors are appointed to initial terms of three years and are eligible for two reappointments, or a maximum of nine consecutive years.
The other MPA board members are: Chair Marie-Claude Boisvert, Vice Chair Marc Y. Bruneau, Hélène Lauzon, Johanne M. Lépine, Nathalie Pilon, and Eric Simard.
