Incumbents Retain Port Freeport Commission Seats

John Hoss and Shane Pirtle have each been re-elected to the Port Freeport Commission.

Commissioner Hoss, a native of Freeport, was first elected to the Port Commission in 2011. Since 1997, he has been a principle in Freeport Launch, LP delivering supplies to ships in the region and servicing the offshore oil and seismic industries in the Gulf of Mexico. Commissioner Hoss graduated from Oklahoma State University, with degrees in fire protection and safety engineering.

First elected to the port commission in 2011, Pirtle is a senior consultant with SIS-Tech Solutions. He retired from The Dow Chemical Company after 30 years of service. He also has previous managerial and professional experience at other engineering firms.  He is a Registered Professional Engineer in Control Systems. He served six years as mayor and one year as a city council member in the neighboring Texas city of Lake Jackson.

Port Freeport commissioners are elected by the voters of the navigation district to staggered terms of six years each.  This means that two commissioner seats come up for election or re-election every two years. Ravi K. Singhania is the commission chair. The other commissioners are Bill Terry, Paul Kresta, and Rudy Santos.
