Gov. Charlie Baker on September 1 swore in Patricia Jacobs as a member of the board of directors of the Massachusetts Port Authority Board of Directors. Jacobs is the president of AT&T New England and oversees the corporation’s legislative, regulatory and public affairs strategies in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.

Prior to assuming her current role, she held numerous positions for the corporation including regional vice president for international affairs where she managed international policy initiatives and regional vice president for federal affairs where she worked on a wide range of federal regulatory and legislative matters.

Before she joined AT&T, Jacobs worked as an aide to then-Congressman Edward J. Markey (D-MA), and as a staffer of the Massachusetts Senate’s Commerce and Labor Committee.

Jacobs has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin as well as a master’s and a doctorate degree in political science from Boston College.

The seven-member board oversees the financially independent authority which owns and operates Boston Logan International Airport, the public container and cruise terminals in the Port of Boston, Hanscom Field, Worcester Regional Airport as well as real estate holdings and public parks in South Boston and East Boston. Board members are appointed by the governor to seven-year terms and are not paid for their service.

"Patricia Jacobs’ experience and contributions to Massport's board and facilities will help drive their continued growth and success," said Gov. Baker. "We are pleased to have strong and talented individuals like Patricia providing strategic guidance to the facilities that the economic strength of our Commonwealth and region rely so heavily upon."
