Houston City Council Reappoints Theldon R. Branch, III to Port Commission of Port of Houston Authority

The Houston City Council reappointed Theldon R. Branch, III to the port commission of the Port of Houston Authority on February 10.

Mr. Branch is the chairman and chief executive officer of The Branch Companies, a privately held Houston-based holding company that oversees investments in real estate, financial assets, the automotive industry and construction. He has also served as chairman of the Rebuild Houston Oversight Committee, and worked as an assistant director for the Houston city planning and housing and community development departments.

Mr. Branch was originally appointed to the port commission in September of 2013 as a representative of the city of Houston. He serves on the commission’s procurement and small business development task force, audit committee, and community relations committee.

Port commissioners of the Port of Houston Authority must be Harris County residents, are unpaid for their services and may serve a maximum of 12 years, or six 2-year terms. Two are appointed by the Harris County Commissioners Court, two by the Houston City Council, one by the Harris County Mayors’ and Councils Association and one by the City of Pasadena. The chairman is appointed jointly by the city council and the Commissioners Court.
