PERIODICALS – NEWSPAPERS & MAGAZINES

Port Canaveral (Fla.) – ‘Port Canaveral Magazine’ (Print and Electronic)

The Port Canaveral Magazine is an electronic and printed publication distributed on a regular basis by the Canaveral Port Authority(CPA). It contains feature and news stories focused on CPA business and plans, staff activities, tenant activities and community events. The stories are written in an editorial style and presented in a magazine format, accompanied by full-color photographs and, in the electronic version, short embedded videos, and supported by advertising. In January 2014, the format was changed from a bi-monthly 16-page publication to a quarterly 16-page-plus-insert publication.

Ports of Indiana (Indianapolis) – ‘Portside’ Magazine

The Ports of Indiana is a unique port system with three public ports – one on Lake Michigan and two on the Ohio River – as far as a six-hour drive apart. It is impossible for anyone to physically stand on a dock and see all port operations, so Portside magazine provides an overview of activities at all three ports that is not available to stakeholders in one community. The magazine grew out of a need for a flexible and feature-oriented publication that introduces readers to the ports and gives them a chance to see port activities through a full-color, glossy publication. The publication highlights important events, new developments and special features at each of Indiana’s three ports and allows the organization to share perspectives on key issues affecting waterborne shipping. Portside tells the full story of the Ports of Indiana – a statewide port system with an economic impact of $6 billion per year.

Port of Long Beach (Calif.) – 'Dock Talk' Employee Newsletter (Electronic)

"Dock Talk" is the employee newsletter produced by the Port of Long Beach and distributed electronically to its 450 employees via Intranet. Its focus is completely on the employees and tells the port's story through their eyes.

Port of Los Angeles (Calif.) – ‘LA Waterfront Magazine’

The Port of Los Angeles’ LA Waterfront Magazine is a beautiful, informative and easy-to-read community newsletter/magazine that informs residents and stakeholders about basic port operations. Because the port is in the midst of redeveloping the LA Waterfront as a regional tourist destination, the focus of the magazine is aimed at the community/waterfront aspects of the port. With content in both English and Spanish languages, the magazine reaches the diverse communities surrounding the port and is mailed to every home and business surrounding the port – all 65,000 of them.
