Maersk Line has added PortMiami to its Transpacific 7 (TP7) service. The Danish carrier has deployed vessels ranging in capacity up to 8,700 TEUs in the weekly service, which is being handled by South Florida Container Terminal Miami at its PortMiami cargo yard. The inaugural caller was the 6,700 TEU Maersk Kristina on May 24.

The westbound port rotation includes Savannah; Charleston; Miami; Tangier, Morocco; Valencia, Spain; Suez Canal; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; Kaohsiung, Taiwan; Ningbo, China; Shanghai, China; Yantian, China; and Hong Kong.

Eastbound, the service calls Kaohsiung; Ningbo; Shanghai; Yantian; Hong Kong; Tanjung Pelepas, Malaysia; Suez Canal; Tangier; Savannah; Charleston; and Miami.

"The arrival of Maersk’s TP7 Service underscores the importance of PortMiami’s $2 billion investment in infrastructure improvement projects," said PortMiami Director Bill Johnson. "The deepening of our channel, along with new on-dock rail and the completion of the port tunnel are all critical for the new generation of larger container vessels."
