Virginia's Cargo up 5.7 Percent in April

The Virginia Port Authority (VPA) reports container throughput at its Hampton Roads maritime terminals grew in April for the fourth straight month, up 5.7 percent from a year ago to 179,370 TEUs, with increases of 6.1 percent and 5.3 percent, respectively, for exports and imports. Other April data reported by the VPA show gains of 9.0 percent for general cargo tonnage and 16.4 percent for containers arriving and departing the port by rail.
