Port Corpus Christi has been a major handler of imported wind energy equipment since 2006. This year, it has begun loading wind turbine components destined for overseas markets.

On Saturday, May 18, NYK-Hinode’s M/V Kuwana loaded 36 Mitsubishi wind blades destined for Japan at Port Corpus Christi’s Cargo Dock 9. The blades had been manufactured in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, staged at Mitsubishi’s laydown yard in Santa Teresa (NM) and trucked from New Mexico to a Port Corpus Christi open storage area adjacent to Dock 9 to await export. 

"The port anticipates additional wind cargo export opportunities within the upcoming months," said Port Executive Director John LaRue.  "We continue our commitment to better serve the logistics of wind energy markets."
