Hueneme Leads Nation in Port Security Funding Drawdown Rate

The Port of Hueneme leads the nation in its proportional drawdown of federal port security grant dollars, 66.14 percent, according to a report by the U.S. Coast Guard’s Port Security Sector Evaluation Division (CG-PSA-2). 

Coast Guard Capt. Jennifer Williams, the deputy sector commander of Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles and Long Beach region, congratulated the port “for leading the nation in effectively spending down Port Security Grant Program funding at a rate of 66 percent! This is the result of the port's proactive security posture and good management practices.

"Receiving this ranking demonstrates our commitment to maximizing our security posture in the post 9-11 environment," said Port CEO Kristin Decas. “We strive to be accountable to the taxpayer and ensure accountability and responsibility in utilizing port security grants.

To date the port and its security stakeholders have received grants totaling $11.7 million from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the state of California for security enhancements.  They include:
