Galveston Receives Quest for Quality Award

The Port of Galveston has received a Logistics Management 2015 Quest for Quality Award in the ports category. The port was evaluated on five critical areas that include Ease of Doing Business, Value, Ocean Carrier Network, Intermodal Network and Equipment Operations. In order to be a "winner," a port had to receive at least 5 percent of the category vote. The port joined 16 other U.S. and Canadian ports in receiving this award.

Logistics Management’s (LM) Annual Quest for Quality Awards is the culmination of a six-month research project conducted by Peerless Research Group. This year, Logistics Management had 4,649 logistics and supply chain decision-makers place their vote. This six-month research undertaking resulted in nine lists featuring 125 transportation and logistics services provider organizations that have gone for the gold and have achieved their mission of being designated "best of the best" by the readers of LM.

Said Michael Levans, group editorial director of Peerless Media, LLC, the publisher of Logistics Management: "The growth of e-commerce and the subsequent evolution of omni-channel fulfillment have changed the game for both retailers and manufacturers, shortening lead times across the board. According to the readers of Logistics Management, the list of carriers and service providers receiving a Quest for Quality Award this year have been equal to the task, matching their ever-demanding service needs and helping them keep pace with the new speed of global business."

"These awards are the gold standard for customer satisfaction and performance excellence for carriers, ports, and logistics providers worldwide," said Port Director Mike Mierzwa. "The port is honored to be among such a privileged group. We understand that our success comes from the efforts of our service providers from the carriers to the stevedores to the longshoremen that handle the cargo. Receiving this award shows that we are making the right decisions for our customers. We will continue to execute and excel on behalf of our customers’ needs and interests.
