Ports of Indiana – Portside Magazine
The Ports of Indiana is a unique port system with three public ports – one on Lake Michigan and two on the Ohio River – as far as a six-hour drive apart. It’s impossible for anyone to physically stand on a dock and see all the port’s operations, so Portside magazine provides an overview of activities at all three ports that isn’t available to stakeholders in one community. The magazine grew out of a need for a flexible and feature-oriented publication that introduces readers to their ports and gives them a chance to see port activities through a full-color, glossy publication. Each issue is focused on one port, providing an annual brochure to market that facility, with one edition covering the organization as a whole. The magazine highlights important events, new developments and special features at each of Indiana’s three ports and allows the Ports of Indiana to share its perspective on issues affecting the waterborne shipping industry economic development opportunities in and around the ports.

The informal publication uses a headline format with photos and a paragraph or two of copy that links to a longer story, related documents or a video. Electronic subscriptions are marketed through an advertising campaign in both print and digital media.

Port of New Orleans – Port Record Magazine – The Official Magazine of the Port of New Orleans
Port Record, the Official Magazine of the Port of New Orleans, has been published since 1942 as means to promote the port and its assets, and engage customers, potential customers and the maritime community. It is used by Port of New Orleans commercial staff, customers and its board members to market the agency. Port Record is published quarterly: winter, spring, summer and fall. The port mails 5,000 hard copies to a targeted list. It is also distributed digitally on the port’s website and social media platforms. The full-color glossy magazine contains branded content about the Port of New Orleans, executed in a journalism-style publication that is compelling and informative to the reader without the publication being an overt advertisement or marketing piece.
