Study Finds the Port of Everett Supports 35,130 Jobs, Nearly $4.0 Billion in Wages and Consumption

A new study of the economic impacts of the Port of Everett found that port operations supported 35,130 regional jobs in 2014, an increase from 2012 of 133 jobs. Specifically, it linked the port’s marine cargo and industrial properties to 33,376 direct, indirect and induced jobs and its marina and Waterfront Place to an additional 1,753 direct, indirect and induced jobs.

Other port-related economic impacts:
  • $220.8 million in state tax and $152.2 million in local tax revenue, for a total of $373 million
  • $583 million in local purchases
  • $3.9 billion in personal wages and local consumption related to the port-sector, with the annual salaries of those directly employed by port-related businesses averaging $86,703.
Port Director Les Reardanz predicts even greater economic impacts will come from the port’s capital investment strategy. In the next five years, the port is expected to invest $134.2 million, $44.5 million this year alone, creating approximately 3,300 temporary construction jobs.
