AAPA Port Security Seminar & Exhibition July 22-24

Make plans now to attend AAPA's Port Security Seminar and Exhibition, July 22-24, at The Westin Crystal City in Arlington (VA). That’s just across the Potomac River from Washington (DC).

An outstanding program has been developed by the AAPA Security Committee and its chairman, Joe Lawless of the Massachusetts Port Authority, for what will be the association's 15th security seminar since May 2001. Last year's seminar drew a large and enthusiastic audience; this year's promises to be equally engaging.

The agenda was organized with the objective of stimulating a fruitful exchange of views and concerns between ports and federal agencies on key port security issues. Among the panel themes are:
  • Drone Aircraft Operations
  • Emerging Energy Issues and their Implications for Port Security
  • Maritime Transportation Safety
  • Port Security Grants
  • Radiation Portal Monitors
  • Safety Act and Port Security
  • TWIC-Final Rule-and Reader Technology
  • Virtual Port
Also planned is a security briefing by a representative of the FBI or CIA. Among the invited speakers are U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson and Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA).

Tabletop exhibits on Thursday, July 23, and event sponsorships afford excellent opportunities to draw the attention of top port industry security officials to your company’s products and services. Speaker slots have been set aside for vendor presentations. To learn more, contact Ed O’Connell at (703) 706-4709 or eoconnell@aapa-ports.org

Hotel Reservations: A block of rooms has been reserved at The Westin Crystal City. To secure accommodations, call the hotel directly at (703) 486-1111 or (800) 325-3535. Be sure to mention your attendance at the AAPA seminar so as to receive the special rate of $199 for a single or double. The cut-off date for the AAPA room block is June 30, 2015. A limited number of hotel rooms have been reserved, so make hotel arrangements early.

Note that the Security Seminar is a core requirement of the AAPA PPM® program.
