Salina Cruz and Topolobampo, Mexico, Join AAPA’s Latin American Port Delegation

Mexico’s Pacific Coast Port of Salina Cruz offers facilities and infrastructure for the handling of petroleum, containers, agribulks, bulk minerals, and oversized general cargo. Other installations include a ship yard a PEMEX refinery. Mean low water depths are 14 meters/45.9 feet in the shipping channel and approximately 12 meters/39.4 feet at the general cargo and petroleum docks. In 2014, the port received nearly 13.5 million metric tons of mostly petroleum cargo and 393 ship arrivals.

The commercial and industrial port of Topolobampo is located on the Gulf of California in the northwestern Mexican state of Sinaloa. Facilities are available or under construction for ro/ro, petroleum, containers, cement, agribulks and mineral bulks, as well as passenger-carrying vessels. There are also several privately-owned marinas. Main channel depth is 14.7 meters/48.2 feet. Berth depths range upward to 12 meters/39.4 feet. Traffic in 2014 consisted of 306 ship arrivals and 6.2 million tons of cargo (including 1.9 million tons of break bulk, 2.2 million tons of petroleum, 1.5 million tons of bulk minerals and 598,689 tons of agribulks).
