Greater Baton Rouge Port Commission Elects 2015 Officers

The board of commissioners for the Port of Greater Baton Rouge recently elected officers for 2015, including Clint Seneca, president; Corey Sarullo, vice president; Bobby Watts, secretary; and Evans "Jimmy" Sanchez, treasurer.

Commission President Seneca is chief deputy assessor for the Iberville Parish Assessor's Office. He is also immediate past board chairman of the Iberville Chamber of Commerce.

Corey Sarullo is branch manager of the Bank of Maringouin, in Grosse Tete (LA). Mr. Watts is employed by the East Baton Rouge Parish Tax Assessor’s Office. Jimmy Sanchez is the regional process safety management coordinator for Enterprise Products Company in Geismar (LA).

The port commission 15 members are appointed by the governor of Louisiana from the four parishes, or counties, encompassed by the port district: Ascension, Iberville, East and West Baton Rouge.

Nanaimo Port Authority Board Appointees

Canadian Transport Minister Lisa Raitt on March 5 announced four appointments to the board of directors of the Nanaimo Port Authority Moira Jenkins, Ms. Donna Hais and Ms. Audrey C. Cope for terms of three years each and Chris Badger for a two year term. As board members, Ms. Cope represents the federal government, while Mr. Bader, Ms. Hais, and Ms. Jenkin represent port users.

Chris Badger, now retired, spent his career in the marine industry, including 14 years at sea and 10 years with Port Metro Vancouver, as vice-president, customer development & operations, from 2001 to 2008 and chief operating officer from 2008 to 2011. He is a Master Mariner and served on the boards of the BC Chamber of Shipping, Western Marine Community Coalition and the International Sailor’s Society Canada. Mr. Badger holds a bachelor’s degree in General Studies and a diploma in Executive Management Development, from Simon Fraser University, Burnaby.

Ms. Cope has more than 27 years of experience with Cope Aluminum Boats, a small boat building and design business. She has also spent almost 30 years in travel consulting and management of organizations such as Atlantic Fellowship Foundation, DER Tours, Qualicum Beach Cruise & Travel, Orca Travel and Marlin Travel. Ms. Cope is involved in Parkinson’s disease awareness. She holds a B.S. in Language and Linguistics from Georgetown University.

Donna Hais is general manager and partner of two businesses: R.W. (Bob) Wall Ltd. and Canadian Cache Development Corporation. She holds a business administration diploma from Malaspina College. She is a past president of the Greater Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce and the Nanaimo Executive Association. She received the Vancouver Island Business Excellence "2014 Community Leader of the Year" award.

Moira Jenkins retired recently after 44 years with the RBC Financial Group, most recently as vice president, commercial banking, Vancouver Island North. Ms. Jenkins holds a personal financial planning designation and a Fellowship from the Institute of Canadian Bankers and has been engaged in various boards and committees, including Nanaimo Community Hospice and the Nanaimo Economic Development Commission. She is currently on the boards of the Nanaimo & District Museum and the Nanaimo & District Hospital Foundation.

The port authority board consists of seven directors – one each representing the federal, provincial and municipal governments and four representing port users. Directors are appointed to terms of three years and are eligible for reappointment to a maximum of two additional consecutive terms.
