In response to the strategic plan approved at its Annual Convention last November, AAPA has revamped the upcoming program for the Spring Conference to be held April 20-21 in Washington, D.C. On Monday and Tuesday morning, the program will feature topics designed to inform and connect industry leaders throughout the Western Hemisphere. These SHARE sessions (Seaports of the Hemisphere Allied in Relationships for Excellence) will address critical issues affecting ports, such as the business risk related to cybersecurity, energy opportunities and resiliency at ports, and port cooperation and partnerships. In addition, there will be special sessions for container and non-container ports.

Beginning mid-day Tuesday, April 21, the event shifts its focus to U.S. policy and advocacy. The audience will hear from key leaders on port and freight transportation policies that support AAPA members’ role in delivering economic prosperity. A Capitol Hill reception honoring the leadership of the House Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee will be held in the committee’s hearing room that evening. U.S. ports are encouraged to invite their members of Congress to the reception.

On Wednesday, April 22, AAPA Government Relations staff will set up a series of meetings with members of Congress and department/agency staff. Attendance is open to all for U.S. corporate members (but individual meetings may be space limited). U.S. ports are encouraged to participate in these meetings or schedule their own for that day so that a united port presence will be felt on Capitol Hill.

Make your plans and register today. (Note: There is a discounted registration fee for non-U.S. corporate members). U.S. port leaders will want to arrange their travel plans to stay through Wednesday, April 22 in order to attend the Capitol Hill reception on the evening of April 21 and to "Hit the Hill" on April 22.
