Washington State DOT Secretary Lynn Peterson has appointed John Klekotka, P.E., chief of engineering and planning at the Port of Everett, to represent public ports on the Transportation Improvement Board. Environmental attorney Tracy Egoscue joined the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners Sept. 16 as the first commissioner appointed by newly elected Mayor Robert Garcia.

Everett: Port Engineer John Klekotka Named to Washington State Transportation Improvement Board 

Washington State Department of Transportation Secretary Lynn Peterson has appointed John Klekotka, P.E., chief of engineering and planning at the Port of Everett, to represent public ports on the Transportation Improvement Board.

The Transportation Improvement Board is an independent state agency that distributes and manages street construction and maintenance grants to 320 cities and urban counties throughout Washington State. 

"Ensuring we have a strong, safe and functional transportation infrastructure is something that I am particularly passionate about," Mr. Klekotka said. "My focus in representing the Washington ports will be ensuring that we keep freight in mind as we move forward with critical transportation improvements."  

Mr. Klekotka, who joined the port in 2000, has more than 29 years in designing and engineering port infrastructure. At the port, he is responsible for the $25 million annual capital project budget, including project management, permitting, environmental cleanups, port planning, regulatory compliance and construction. 

Mr. Klekotka’s term is effective immediately and expires in June 2018. He will be eligible to serve another four-year term.

Environmental Attorney Tracy Egoscue Joins Long Beach Harbor Commission

Environmental attorney Tracy Egoscue joined the Long Beach Board of Harbor Commissioners Sept. 16 as the first commissioner appointed by newly elected Mayor Robert Garcia. Her appointment for a six-year term had been approved by the City Council the week before. She fills a seat vacated by the departure in July of Susan E. Anderson Wise, whose term ended.

Ms. Egoscue, who now heads a Long Beach-based private law practice, is a former executive officer of the California Regional Water Quality Control Board – Los Angeles Region. Earlier, she served as executive director of Santa Monica Baykeeper, an environmental advocacy group. She also practiced environmental litigation as a deputy attorney general for the California Department of Justice, and worked on issues encompassing the Air Resources Board, the California Environmental Quality Act and the Federal Clean Water Act.

She serves on the boards of directors of the California League of Conservation Voters and Mujeres de la Tierra, a nonprofit environmental justice organization. She received her law degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She is a member of the State Bar of California and is also licensed to practice in Connecticut.
