Grays Harbor Auto Operations Set Records in July

July was a record breaking month at Grays Harbor’s Terminal 4. For the first time ever, two ro/ro ships docked simultaneously at the 1,400-foot long berth. Additionally, a record 17,109 vehicles processed by Pasha Automotive Services (PAS) were loaded for export aboard ships by longshore workers in a five-week period.

Just a year after opening its state-of-the-art car wash and processing facility, PAS is employing 120 processors on a daily basis. Loading autos and other cargo handling activities provided local longshoremen 23,000 hours of work - the equivalent of another 115 full-time jobs.

Port Commissioner Jack Thompson praised the partnership with Pasha and the economic engine that auto and other cargo exports have created in Grays Harbor: "These are jobs that didn't exist five years ago. Pasha is a great partner for the port and our community and we look forward to watching them grow their business in Grays Harbor even further."

Last year, Grays Harbor handled 92,790 vehicles (most but not all of them exports bound for Asia), up from 71,021 in 2012 and just 4,899 in 2009.
