Georgia Ports Authority (Savannah) - GPA FY2013 Annual Report: Strength in Numbers

Each year, the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) must produce an annual report detailing the authority’s fiscal performance. However, GPA views the report as more than just a budget spreadsheet. It is an opportunity to tell the authority’s story of economic impact across the state, including its tangible support of manufacturing and logistics projects that bring jobs to Georgians. In the FY2013 edition, GPA incorporated design elements of its newly revamped quarterly magazine AnchorAge, with much greater white space for an airy, light feel; cool blue accent tones and an easy-to-read sans serif font. The authority also tied the revamped AnchorAge into an ongoing testimonial campaign by using pull-quotes from industry leaders that illustrate the strengths of Georgia’s deep-water ports. With compelling photos and text, the resulting publication invites the reader to appreciate the grandeur of the port operation, and the depth of the Georgia Ports Authority’s impact on the state’s economic wellbeing.

Port of Stockton (Calif.) – ‘80 Years of Connecting Our Community to the World’

The Port of Stockton celebrated its 80th anniversary on Feb. 2, 2013. From the first commercial vessel in 1933 – the Daisy Gray – to its current operations, the port has become a major economic engine, job generator and leader in environmental stewardship for the greater Stockton region. In 2013, the port was the #1 primary bulk/break bulk port in California and contributed $5 million in taxes adding 80 full-time family-wage jobs to the local economy. In order to be transparent in communicating its performance to its board, stakeholders and local community, the Port of Stockton relies on an annual report that brings together pertinent information about its past year’s accomplishments into one cohesive, understandable document. The 2013 Annual Report held the theme "80 Years of Connecting Our Community to the World" and provided the port the opportunity to stop and reflect on its years of evolution. The annual report is intended to increase awareness of the port’s community and environmental commitment as well as economic sustainability. This document also provides organizational information and highlights the port’s 2013 significant achievements. The 2013 Annual Report, published in early 2014, was written in simple, digestible language to provide valuable information in a short and concise manner – utilizing an easy-to-read format. The intriguing visual design elements and photography transformed the annual report into a valuable communication tool that helped capture the interest of the average reader.
