In Memoriam – Anthony J. Ferrara

Albany Port District Commissioner Anthony J. Ferrara passed away May 24 at the age of 89. First appointed to the commission in December 2000 by Gov. Pataki, he was reappointed to subsequent terms, most by recently by Gov. Cuomo, and was serving as its treasurer at the time of death.

Commissioner Ferrara had more than 45 years of banking/financial services industry experience. During his banking career, he served at all levels with State Bank of Albany/Norstar Bank/Fleet Norstar, where he retired as a senior vice president in 1998. He also served as chairman of the city of Albany Industrial Development Agency, Chairman of the Albany Water Board, and as a board member for several community organizations.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
