Oakland: Port Recognizes Leadership Academy Graduates

On May 20, the Port of Oakland recognized the graduates of its Port Leadership Academy Class of 2014. Over a period of nine months, 20 port employees went through an internal series of courses and handled two special projects.

The Leadership Academy was initiated in mid-2012 as a tool for internal professional development and leadership training. The inaugural class consists of 20 members from across the organization who applied and were chosen through a competitive selection process to participate in an annual program designed to educate and inspire participants to become the next leaders of the Port. The Leadership Academy has been tasked with commenting on the policies; and providing training and communication advice so that each policy can be fully embraced and followed.
