The Nanaimo Port Authority has promoted Capt. Edward Dahlgren to director of operations & harbor master, and Mike Davidson to director of property and environment. Governor Pat McCrory has named Michael V. Lee chair and Robert Sar vice chair of the board of directors of the North Carolina State Ports Authority.

Nanaimo Promotes Edward Dahlgren and Mike Davidson to Senior Staff Positions

Bernie A. Dumas, president and CEO of the Nanaimo Port Authority, has announced the following staff appointments:

Capt. Edward Dahlgren has been promoted to director of operations and harbor master. Capt. Dahlgren joined the port authority in 2010 as manager of operations and brings to the position extensive background in marine operations, security and regulatory management.

Mike Davidson has been promoted to director of property and environment. Mr. Davidson has held a variety of positions since joining the port authority thirty years ago. The port authority says its future strategic focus will be on land development and on addressing the increasing environmental challenges associated with port activities, and that Mr. Davidson’s "diverse experience and dedication will complement this critical function of the port’s long-term future."

North Carolina Gov. McCrory Appoints Ports Authority Chairman and Vice Chairman

Gov. Pat McCrory has named Michael V. Lee chair and Robert Sar vice chair of the board of directors of the North Carolina State Ports Authority.

Mr. Lee is the managing partner of the Lee Law Firm, PLLC, in Wilmington where he focuses his practice on real estate development and land use and zoning. He is former chair of the New Hanover County Board of Adjustment and member of the City of Wilmington Board of Adjustment. He was appointed to ports authority board in 2011 by the president pro tempore of the North Carolina senate and named vice chairman in 2013 by Gov. McCrory.

Mr. Sar is a trial lawyer who regularly represents management in labor/employment law and related matters. He has been a board member since his appointment last year by the governor and sits on its Governance and Compensation and Finance and Audit committees.

The ports authority board consists of 11 members – six appointed by the governor, four by the general assembly and one by the North Carolina secretary of transportation.
