Beaumont Banker Bill Darling Takes Oath as Port Commissioner 

Bill Darling was sworn in as a Beaumont port commissioner during the board’s meeting on September 23. Mr. Darling was selected from nine candidates who had applied and interviewed to complete the unexpired term of the late Floy Nell Clark. Mr. Darling will hold the seat until the term expires in May 2015. 

Mr. Darling is Capital One Bank’s area president for Southeast Texas and manager of commercial banking for Southeast Texas. He has 28 years of banking experience, including 22 years with Capital One Bank and its predecessor banks in Beaumont. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from Lamar University and is a native of Beaumont. 

Active in the community, Mr. Darling is a member of the board of the Greater Beaumont Chamber of Commerce, where he also serves on the Government and Public Affairs Committee. He serves on the executive committee of the United Way of North Jefferson County and Anayat House, a medical hospitality house for which he is incoming president. He is also a member of the board of the Lamar University Alumni Association and a trustee for the City of Beaumont Firefighter's Pension Plan.
