New York & New Jersey: Global Terminals Receives $11.4 Million TIGER Grant

Global Marine Terminals has accepted an $11.4 million TIGER grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. The grant will assist Global Terminals as it completes its ongoing $350 million renovation. The terminal is located on the Bayonne waterfront in the Port of New York & New Jersey and is owned by the port authority. Part of that renovation involves expanding the current 100-acre Global campus onto 70 additional acres in what once were the Greenville rail yards and are now a port authority property.

Global will use TIGER funds to purchase two double-cantilever rail-mounted gantry cranes capable of loading and unloading double-stack rail cars. This technology simplifies the process and pace of moving cargo inland while doing so in a more environmentally sustainable fashion.
