Shipping Statistics Yearbook provides analytical data on shipping, shipbuilding, seaborne trade and seaport traffic throughout the world. It includes:
  • An introductory "Comment 2012" on developments in "shipping, shipbuilding and ports."
  • Analyses of the supply and demand for shipping services.
  • Charts and tables devoted to the world shipbuilding industry.
  • Data on world seaborne trade and trade development.
  • An overview of major commodity markets specified according to production and consumption centers.
  • Freight market trends, including ocean freight rate and vessel charter fixtures.
  • Ships on order, ships completed, and ship output by country.
  • Transit traffic via the St. Lawrence Seaway and the Suez, Kiel, and Panama canals.
  • World port traffic and country-specific port surveys.
The statistical data are generally current through 2011 and in some cases extend into 2012. The port section includes shipping traffic, cargo tonnage and container movements through "selected" ports of individual countries, as well as world rankings based on total cargo volume and container throughput.
