Kent Bicycles plans to ship more than a million units a year through the Port of Savannah.

"We have been warehousing solely in Los Angeles and were looking for a strategic location for our second distribution point, and Savannah worked out with the best metrics," said Arnold Kamler, CEO of Kent International.

Mr. Kamler said the company will move about 1.3 million bicycles manufactured in China and Taiwan through its Savannah distribution center each year. The bikes will be transported in containers, generating about 7,000 TEUs annually in port business.

Kent has contracted with Schneider Port Logistics, a third-party logistics provider with warehousing space flexing to accommodate the number of units on site. Schneider is serving Kent from its 840,000 square-foot, 140-door Grange Road campus, which is half a mile from the port’s main gate, seven miles from Interstate 95, and six miles from I-16. As the hub of Kent’s distribution network, it will serve the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and the Southwest as far as Texas.

Kent bicycles are sold by major retailers including Target, Walmart and Toys R Us, as well as online outlets such as Amazon.com.

Containers loaded with Kent bikes like these will be arriving soon at the Port of Savannah.
